- We are an American girl and a Ugandan man, making a life which spans from the mountains of Asheville, NC to the shores of the Nile in Jinja, Uganda. We share Sugarcane Studios, a small business which combines my skill for custom sewing and our passion for all things African. When we got married, Grace said to me (Tara) that our marriage would be like sugarcane...getting sweeter and sweeter as you bite each segment. So far, he was right...despite the obstacles, it is getting sweeter and sweeter as we go.
